Greetings

Hi all. Greetings from the UK! I'm new to Archbang (am posting from it now) but have used Linux for a few years, mostly Puppy and Vector.

I've got a 10 year old computer (a Compaq PIII) and am doing a tour of the very few 2011 distros which will run well on it. Archbang is the one I'm using now.

Thanks for the distro and setting up this forum!

Cheers,

CP .

Re: Greetings

I know I'm slow, but I just realised your name is a homonym for kernel panic :-)  (is homonym the right word?)

Re: Greetings

Thanks all! You're right, it's a deliberate pun (though homonym sounds better smile ) on "kernel panic." It seemed funny to me at the time but I've pretty much got used to it now, and just use it without thinking about it. As far as I know I'm the only one who uses it so if you see a Colonel Panic posting on any Linux distro-related forum, it's a good bet it's me.

Thanks for the welcome anyway,

CP .

it may sound better but it's wrong :-)  What I was looking for was homophone (but technically that may not be right either unless you pronounce kernel/colonel the same (it's close enough for me though))

Homonyn didn't seem right when I wrote it but my mind went blank.

For anyone still reading, a homonym is two words with the same spelling but different meanings

That's a good idea. I might just do that if I stick around.
