archbang-artix-rc-140817 – PCManFM: no trash can – no mount unmount

Current 'archbang-artix-rc-140817.iso' tested in VirtualBox

When I booted from the iso I could not open gparted: Glib::ConvertError
After I had installed archbang gparted could be opened as sudo from the terminal.

PCManFM does not show the trash can.
When I type trash:/// I get 'operation not supported'.
But trash is working: Deleted files are moved to .local/share/Trash/files/

Mount and unmount media does not work either. And there is no folder 'media'.

When I tested Artix I discovered the same problems with PCManFM.
On the Lxqt environment Artix uses a  a widget in the system tray for mounting. You cannot mount and unmount from PCManFM-qt either. But it is showing the trash can at least.

PCManFM was ok on archbang-rc-280617. Something in Artix seems to work different than in Arch-openrc.

Tested and live gparted will not work, did notice conky was missing too. Rebuilt iso with systemd-dummy packages and now conky works.... going to test iso form usb just to make sure its not VirtualBox at fault.

Re: archbang-artix-rc-140817 – PCManFM: no trash can – no mount unmount

Just tested live ISO via USB and it has the same issue, something I will have to look into.

Pcmanfm needs gvfs for trash support... not currently shipped with ArchBang.

Auto mounting is more likely udisks2 again installed not an issue. May add pmount on live ISO.....

Re: archbang-artix-rc-140817 – PCManFM: no trash can – no mount unmount

There was no pmount in archbang-rc-280617 and mount/unmount was working fine in PCManFM.

I have installed gvfs and udisks2. Trash is ok now.
At places in PCManFM there are shown three tmp-folders. When I start PCManFM with sudo two of them are marked as mounted devices.

I have installed plank and want to make it transparent.
With compton archbang desktop hangs at boot.
No problems with xcompmgr.

Can you try loading systemd-dummy and libsystemd-dummy, sometimes it can help....

Re: archbang-artix-rc-140817 – PCManFM: no trash can – no mount unmount

Yes – it is like a miracle. I have loaded systemd-dummy and libsystemd-dummy.
The tmp folders are gone and I can mount and unmount devices, i.e. VboxGuestAdditions.iso.
PCManFM seems to work fine now.

It is great to have fixed PCManFM, but I am afraid, that with systemd-dummy and libsystemd-dummy it will be harder to detect systemd-dependent software.
Systemd seems to penetrate Linux like a fungus. In Lubuntu 14.04 there was no systemd yet and there were no functions missing in PCManFM.

Not sure if still a problem, but to fix the Glib::ConvertError in the LiveCD, I put LANG=en_US.UTF-8 in terminal. It worked for the session.

Re: archbang-artix-rc-140817 – PCManFM: no trash can – no mount unmount

There are two versions of PCManFM and most of the LXDE-tools: gtk2 and gtk3. – i.e. lxterminal(-gtk3), lxappearance(-gtk3), pcmanfm(-gtk3)
Do they make a difference?
Are there any reasons not to use the gtk3 versions, since gtk3 is supposed to be the future?

Re: archbang-artix-rc-140817 – PCManFM: no trash can – no mount unmount

Would go gtk3 tomorrow only quite a few of the applications we ship with require gtk2!

pacman -Qi gtk2
Name : gtk2
Version : 2.24.31-1
---------
Required By : epdfview firefox gftp gpick gtk-engine-murrine gtkmm gtksourceview2 libfm-gtk2 libglade libxfce4ui
                  lxappearance lxdm obconf tint2 vte
------

I know I can get gtk2 out of tint2... gtkmm is a dep of gparted! obconf well no big deal rest I could source a gtk3 alternative...
