ArchBang changes?

I want to put this out to all our users. What would you like to see included in ArchBang? Can I remove some of the applications? Reduce number of toolkits?

We ship with:

Firefox
Lxterminal
L3afpad
Deadbeef
Gparted
Pcmanfm

This brings in gtk2/3 and gtkmm... Thought about removing gtk2 but for reason firefox needs both gtk2 and gtk3.

Did think of going with Netsurf to reduce iso size but some found it a step to far.

A web browser is easily installed; so choose one that suits you.

Re: ArchBang changes?

Maybe spacefm over pcmanfm ? I hear it is still be maintained just not developed anymore. Also you can use pmount and udevil  with spacefm to automount where as pcmanfm / thunar has to use the bloated gvfs.

Re: ArchBang changes?

Spacefm would be my first choice for file manager only it is only in AUR at the moment. Going to try midori to see how large iso will be with it.

Re: ArchBang changes?

@ Mr. Green
your software choices are very good.
Lxterminal, Deadbeef, Gparted and Pcmanfm are the best possible choices from my perspective.
I prefer PCManFM because of one single feature: The 'copy path' menu item. It makes using the terminal much more comfortable and other filemanagers do not have it.

I would rather have Mousepad than L3afpad. It is about as small and has more features.

Firefox is quite large, but I do not see any good alternative.
Midori is small but unfortunately it depends on Zeitgeist. Qupzilla does not need Zeitgeist, but because of all the qt stuff it is not much smaller than Firefox. Bookmarking is quite slow and bumpy with both of them.

You could add the Antergos repo and would have three more options of webbrowsers: Icecat, Slimjet and Vivaldi. They are not small either.
Personally I would rather use Icecat than Firefox.
My prefered browser is Flashpeak-Slimjet. It is a pleasure to use and has very efficient bookmarking. But Slimjet is not open source. It is fast but certainly not slim.

Since you want to keep archbang slim I think your choice of software is quite close to the optimum.

Re: ArchBang changes?

If you still plan to include Midori as default webbrowser, please think about including activity-log-manager as well, so that Zeitgeist can be turned off easily.
