Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

Yes, congratulations indeed for reading the times ...

Wonder how you were able to produce an ArchBang iso so soon. Thank you. Thank you very much!

Did a frugal install. Nearly everything works!  I was not able to install Chromium nor leafpad nor gvim nor ruby. Guess there is a small problem with the artix mirrors : do the only provide the OpenRC stuff or also the normal Arch programs?

Thank you for kind attention.
And all possible succes with this new project.

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

This might help you and many other users...

..:Artix guide:..

Know that installer will not work at the moment.

For packages add:

[extra]
Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist-arch

[community]
Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist-arch

To the end of /etc/pacman.conf and run

pacman -Syu

You should be able to install what you need.

Installer fix .... in abinstall look for mkinitcpio and change it to this:

mkinitcpio - p linux-lts

Should do the trick!

Thank you very much.

As you stated this allowed me to use 'pacman' the normal way ie to install any program I want.

I didn't test the installer.

Still got a small systemd related problem .... When trying to run mplayer I get following errormessage : "mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libsystemd.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Any hint?

Thank you for kind attention.

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

Maybe look at dummy systemd packages...

world/libsystemd-dummy 233-1
    systemd client libraries without udev; systemd compatibility package
world/polkit 0.113+29+g3272a98-10 [installed]
    PolyciKit with elogind support for non-systemd systems
world/systemd-dummy 233-1
    systemd-sysuser and systemd-tmpfiles binary; systemd compatibility package

See if they help....

Be aware that some Arch based packages are still going to be infected by systemd.

Checked mplayer package does not seem to rely on systemd... you may have some odd package still installed

Yes installer is not working but I am very close to a working version (((still testing)))

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

Update

New iso, installer is now working.. Firefox is back!

Please note we are now running linux-lts kernel (part of artix repos). Have noticed that I needed to remove vesa driver for Xorg to run under Virtualbox. Not included systemd dummy packages (yet!). You will find that arch [extra] and [community] are missing from pacman.conf (not a big deal to add them back in). Will add them back in via iso in the near future.

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

@joji
about mplayer :
mplayer need smbclient as dependencies and smclient need systemd as makedepends to build, so.... simply rebuild samba without systemd smile

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

@eric
Thank you very much for reaction.
I didn't have to rebuild samba as installing "libsystemd-dummy" (idea of Mr Green!) did the trick.

@Mr Green
Thank you for providing this new iso. Nice work.
A frugal install of the new iso is no problem. But I was not able to do a full install. Skipping the Bootlader (/usr/bin/abinstall nr 7)  had as effect that neither 'vmlinuz-linux' nor  'initramfs-linux.img' were installed in the /boot-directory.
Any idea?
Thank you for kind attention.

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

I have now got installer running, you could try this line 409

Change it look like this (basically add 'lts')

cp /run/archiso/bootmnt/arch/boot/${ARCHI}/vmlinuz ${MNT}/boot/vmlinuz-linux-lts

That should allow mkinitcpio to run without errors.

You will find that you need to edit /etc/conf.d/agetty.tty6 change ablive to <username>

Re: ArchBang is now Artix based...

@joji
it was as much a joke as a thing to do, it can be complicated to rebuild and change PKGBUILD to erase systemD support. wink.
Anyway, https://github.com/obarun-pkgbuild/samba
