Should I get a chromebook?

We have been offered a free (sort of!) chromebook to use for work related stuff. Am a little against getting one as my previous experience was that it was slow and not that useful. To me chrome os is a chromium browser with icons linked to web services.

Do any of you use a chromebook? Run linux on it? or do you go a different route?

Never compromise too much on your hardware : it will be  a daily nuisance/ source of irritations.

Re: Should I get a chromebook?

I have an Acer C720 ChromeBook.  It is great!
MFG Date 20140303
2 GB RAM
16 GB SSD
1.4 GHz Intel Core2Duo
8 hour battery

I use it with ChromeOS.
I have other machines for Linux.

It is quite fast!
I use it for the net and writing.

Installed apps:
+ Caret - great text editor
+ HexReader
+ Secure Shell - ssh to my server
+ VNC Viewer - to help clients
+ Chrome Remote Desktop
+ SFTP - off site storage
+ Dropbox - off site storage
+ Box - off site storage
+ Google Drive - off site storage
+ Google Calendar
+ Google Sheets
+ Google Docs
+ Google Translate
+ runTimers - reminders

BTW
I can not install ArchBang on my PC.
archbang-170916-i686.iso
I read your instructions, but 'Install' is not in the openbox menu.
I used gparted to format, mounted the drive, used fast-install, and seemed to install.  It even shows in grub, but hangs on boot.
Help would be appreciated.  Thank you.
