openrc, setting clock & openntpd

For the life of me I cannot set my clock or get openntpd to run.

I've looked at the arch wiki as well as the gentoo & sabayon wikis and I just cannot get this to work.

openrc is obviously alien to me but hell it should not be this hard to set my clock & sync it online, it's still synced to the default canadian time for some odd reason. Got openssh running without hassles.

also need to set hdparm at startup so powermangement (hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda
) is disabled.

Any ideas?

Really hoping Chris will jump in on this one as I have the same clock issue. Always knew that there would be problems with running systemd free.

Re: openrc, setting clock & openntpd

Replace opennptd with ntp. Then install ntp-openrc.

Next run:
rc-update add ntp-client default

ntp works fine, something is wrong with opennptd, I will investigate some more.

Thanks, although it won't be necessary. I found the problem. The openrc script upstream at gentoo changed, however for some reason the gentoo github repo was not showing the change when makepkg downloaded the script. I changed the upstream url, and now it pulls the new openrc script.

Now openntpd runs correctly.
