Default applications

I've installed AB on my new work laptop and it seems things have significantly changed since the last time I went though the process, which was about 2 years ago.
One of the things I've noticed is the absence of xdg-utils which I found surprising. I was going to setup default protocol and file-type handlers, and my first instinct is to install xdg-utils to do that... but since it's not there, is there an alternative approach that I should be going for?

Re: Default applications

Not sure what you mean by not there, as a default in ArchBang live? Certainly can add it too next release if required live.

Re: Default applications

I was talking about the installed system, not live. I see xdg-user-dir is there, but not xdg-open, for example. Is that expected?

Re: Default applications

I think xdg is installed as a "dependancy", I don't know which app installed it. Whether it installs depends on the requirements as parent-apps get updated.  What I mean is that xdg was not intentionally specified for installation (Mr G can correct me if I am mistaken).

Re: Default applications

Am in France at the moment so no access to my main box, do know the xdg-use-dirs is installed, if you do want anything installed live then let me know.
