Windows 10

Why do Microsoft fonts look so good? Running 10 under a VM and fonts look so sharp, much better than in arch.....

Because you're not running the infinality patches from bohoomil?

Can't say I've ever seen W10 though - just comparing to W7

Re: Windows 10

That must be for the same reasons that ALL things must look better in Windows' fonts. ?
Those fonts are the bait afterall, for all the Ad's needs, or didn't we realize where DRM was really gonna take uis afterall?

Re: Windows 10

I must say that my fonts look great in AB and can't look better it seems to me in AB but indeed and disappointingly  not so good in Void.
I haven't been able to track te problem down yet.
I will experiment a bit more to see if I can solve it.

Re: Windows 10

It is sites like github that look really bad, my firefox fix from Arch wiki did not seem to help. Not checked if Void supplies any font packages....

Re: Windows 10

Use font in  http://www.voidlinux.eu/packages/
I didn't find fontmatrix that I used to set the best font rendering in AB.

Re: Windows 10

I tried a Win-10 install and then fresh ArchBang dual-boot install.  However win-10 will not boot after AB is installed, reason I don't recall exactly, something about corrupted file. I can dual-boot Win-7 and AB (no UEFI).  I don't use windows but tried the dual-boot scenario on a "Just-in-Case" basis. This is old hardware: Intel Core2duo and AMD X2 Athlon PCs and coming from Vista/win-7 period.

Is this due to win-10 requiring EFI, I have never needed nor used UEFI ? Does anyone know the reason for my dual-boot issues with Win-10?  Thank you.

Re: Windows 10

I suggest you use the rescatux cd to correct your windows boot without losing your AB login: http://www.supergrubdisk.org/rescatux/

Re: Windows 10

Thanks Pablokal.  I will research Rescatux.

I already wiped out win-10 to reinstall AB, since dual-boot didn't work.  But it may come in useful when win-10 is officially released.  I got interested when there was news about "free" copies of win-10.  Nowadays I have no need for Windows since everything I need, works on Linux.

PS: I use a Lumia Windows 8.1 mobile phone because they had attractive low prices and sufficient variety of free apps. When MSFT went 'free' they became more interesting to me.
