Re: Menu Problem

~/.config/openbox/menu.xml ?

TBH, I'm not sure how that dynamic stuff ties in but I'm assuming it's all linked in menu.xml

Re: Menu Problem

Edit ~/.config/menu.xml and remove the '-i' like this

 <menu id="root-menu" label="obmenu-generator" execute="/usr/bin/obmenu-generator" />

Edit ~/.config/autostart and add a '#' to the line below like this

# eye candy, shadows, fading
#(sleep 3 && compton -f -b) &

This should speed up desktop experience...

Comments, suggestions please feel free to contact me mrgreen(at)archbang(dot)org

Latest release already has that, mine looks exactly like that & I did not edit it.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<openbox_menu xmlns="http://openbox.org/"
 xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
  xsi:schemaLocation="http://openbox.org/">
    <menu id="root-menu" label="obmenu-generator" execute="/usr/bin/obmenu-generator" />
</openbox_menu>

Ring Meters by londonali1010 (2009)

This script draws percentage meters as rings. It is fully customisable; all options are described in the script.

IMPORTANT: if you are using the 'cpu' function, it will cause a segmentation fault if it tries to draw a ring straight away. The if statement near the end of the script uses a delay to make sure that this doesn't happen. It calculates the length of the delay by the number of updates since Conky started. Generally, a value of 5s is long enough, so if you update Conky every 1s, use update_num > 5 in that if statement (the default). If you only update Conky every 2s, you should change it to update_num > 3; conversely if you update Conky every 0.5s, you should use update_num > 10. ALSO, if you change your Conky, is it best to use "killall conky; conky" to update it, otherwise the update_num will not be reset and you will get an error.

To call this script in Conky, use the following (assuming that you save this script to ~/scripts/rings.lua):
	lua_load ~/scripts/rings-v1.2.1.lua
	lua_draw_hook_pre ring_stats

Changelog:
+ v1.2.1 -- Fixed minor bug that caused script to crash if conky_parse() returns a nil value (20.10.2009)
+ v1.2 -- Added option for the ending angle of the rings (07.10.2009)
+ v1.1 -- Added options for the starting angle of the rings, and added the "max" variable, to allow for variables that output a numerical value rather than a percentage (29.09.2009)
+ v1.0 -- Original release (28.09.2009)

Re: Menu Problem

$ obmenu-generator -h
usage: /usr/bin/obmenu-generator [options]

options:
    -p         : (re)generate a pipe menu
    -s         : (re)generate a static menu
    -i : include icons in menus
    -m <id>    : menu id (default: 'root-menu')
    -t <label> : menu label text (default: 'Applications')

other:
    -S <file>  : path to the schema.pl file
    -C <file>  : path to the config.pl file
    -o <file>  : path to the menu.xml file
    -u : update the config file
    -r : regenerate the config file
    -d         : regenerate icons.db
    -c         : reconfigure openbox automatically
    -R : reconfigure openbox and exit

Help:
    -h : print this message and exit
    -v : print version and exit

Examples:
   ** Static menu without icons:
        /usr/bin/obmenu-generator -s -c

   ** Dynamic menu with icons:
        /usr/bin/obmenu-generator -p -i

** Config file: /home/monkey/.config/obmenu-generator/config.pl
** Schema file: /home/monkey/.config/obmenu-generator/schema.pl

$/usr/bin/obmenu-generator -s -c   (which can put in autostart)
creates a static menu in ~/.cache which is then piped to .config /openbox/menu.xml
or smthng like that...

RE conky  lua     (this should be  a new thread)
do conky -v and see if there is lua support,    you may need to install a conky built with lua from the AUR....

Re: Menu Problem

Latest release includes

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<openbox_menu xmlns="http://openbox.org/"
 xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
  xsi:schemaLocation="http://openbox.org/">
    <menu id="root-menu" label="obmenu-generator" execute="/usr/bin/obmenu-generator -i" />
</openbox_menu>

Think Sabu has gone a bit off topic...

Re: Menu Problem

just to clarify/correct my last post,
if you want a static menu,
in the menu, go to Preferences/Openbox Settings/Generate a static menu ( and then 'Reconfigure Openbox')
this overwrites menu.xml with current menu (as per  ~/.config/obmenu-generator/schema).
to go back to a dynamic menu,  do Preferences/Openbox Settings/Generate a pipe menu.. etc
