ArchBang Initscripts Version

I have built and uploaded an initscripts version of ArchBang

http://sourceforge.net/projects/archban … o/download

Again do not get too excited, needs a little work to be more stable.

ToDo

Quite a lot, for now needs testing

Note: This is an experimental version only meant for those who are interested in finding out if Arch can work without sytemd.
If this doesn't mean anything for you, keep away from this and install the default Archbang iso

Re: ArchBang Initscripts Version

I'll try it out today Mr Green along with the OpenRC version, I personally moved to System V because I am building init scripts and System V init and BSD init are much more compatible, plus, humorously to me, OpenRC even using parallel booting is slower than System V init.

Re: ArchBang Initscripts Version

Well it is rough at the moment, dbus is not running and Syslog is complaining. With dbus I may be able to get network manager working...

For now it's dhcpd all the way...

Re: ArchBang Initscripts Version

Unfortunately this computer's disk burner quit working, till I can diagnose and fix that, I wanted to ask if you added dbus-nosystemd package? I have it installed and its not working either...  Guessing it has something to do with the init script for it.

Re: ArchBang Initscripts Version

@Black Fox have loaded dbus-nosystemd but as you say I need to check dbus rc.d script. As far as I can tell udev is working, again might need work.

Not sure if install will work as abinstall is set for systemd.

oldarch.jpg

Not so much iso as a test VM, shows aur packages required. A few minor tweaks and it runs fine..

Re: ArchBang Initscripts Version

Uploaded a new version of initscripts iso, switched too wicd does connect wired will need to be tested wireless. Shutdown/Reboot will only work with sudo... might add aliases to fix it. Still needs work but will need feedback to help me.

Todo:

Fix shutdown/reboot
redirect pacman-key set up to remove warning messages. [ haveged still produces output?]
Edit rc.conf to our needs
Look at rc.sysvinit
Lastmin - set xorg, start sshd etc... [testing]
Clean out systemd files....
Add json-c ?????
Clean systemd via pacman correctly?
