Re: gkt2/3 dark theme

I found the last edition quite nice, just a new wallpaper will do.
If you wanted to change I would prefer a black and grey theme,
like the grey version of this one: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … ent=153607

Re: gkt2/3 dark theme

Looking at using BlackCoal for openbox but still searching for a dark theme.... wallpaper should not be a problem one of Conker1's will fit the bill. Also looking at a new tint2rc...

Know some user are not keen on dark themes but I just need to get something that is modern and more up to date

Thanks for the link will check it out....

Re: gkt2/3 dark theme

I was using Aero which I modified to suit my tastes. I found it wasn't always perfect with all software & could on rare occasions be a bit hard to read. Though it wasn't bad enough to send me back into the gtkrc file to edit the thing.

I spent a lot of time editing originally, quite tedious really...

If you want the gtkrc your welcome to it?

Re: gkt2/3 dark theme

That's why I spent so looong fiddling about with Aero to get it dark enough & workable enough. smile

I take my hat off to those that design the things from scratch, they truly have a good dose of obsessive compulsive creativity, (without which my systems would never have been as comfortable on my eyes as they are).

All very nice, hard to choose one, but if you pick the "Dark Green Machine" one, then "a fight may break out"
Ha ha ha....
Seruiously though, they are all "pretty-eye-candy".
-nice.

Re: gkt2/3 dark theme

Well, you guys know what I suggest for a default install:

"Openbox Configuration Manager":  Bluesmoke
http://box-look.org/content/show.php/Bl … tent=84081

"lxappearance" aka "User Interface Settings" (gtk2/gtk3): Zukitwo-Dark
(packer -S zukitwo-themes)

-Reason being, it just works OOB, by default. Themes/Colors show very defined "borders", and any "text" inside boxes within apps such as FF, ... are easily visible.
EDIT: ...no need to fuss around with any colors, it's good to go.
It's K.I.S.S, and of course, that's a good place to start.

It works best with our Dark/Black/Grey ArchBang Wallpapers, such as, the ones "Conker1r" has been pumping out for awhile now.
Personally I've always liked our old "Shiki-Statler" Theme, that was very nice too.

I couldn't find anything that gave me nicely defined borders/colors/text... in ALL apps the way zukitwo did.
But Yes, I agree, "zukitwo-dark" is abit glaring, and thats probably why I always liked good 'ole "Shiki-Statler", which is also still another good option here.

The point is, ANYTHING is better than the "eye-sore" themes we have right now ! Otherwise, this thread wouldn't be here.
Haha  wink

Soo?, who cares, if it works nicely then I don't see a prob -imho.
My guess is, ppl will be changing their themes,..., anyway, to their own liking, regardless.

Re: gkt2/3 dark theme

On my 22" Acer LCD it looks great, but you're right, on your old 300 pound 21" CRT Viewsonic Tube Monitor you'll need more than Ray-Bans...

Hang on a minute, I was just looking around right now, and apparently, there is NO "gtk3.0" support for Shiki ? -but correct me if I'm wrong please.
So, maybe Shiki is not a good alternative, however, zukitwo is gtk3 compliant.

Anyways, I trust you'll find somethin' for us all, Mr. G.
