[Solved] - OBmenu Icons stuck in AwOken

Dear Community Members,

Based on a last month archbang nightly build iso, my system is up to date as of today.

I have a small problem with OBmenu icons. I simply cannot change them, they are stuck in AwOken and i cannot change them to any other icon set. (see picture)

archbang-icons.png

As you can see, i select Faience icon theme, and the menu still display AwOken icon theme. Same apply for the notification area where the volume and network icons still display AwOken.

I have being trying different set of icons (oxygen, gnome, etc), reconfigure, restart openbox, deleted gtk-3.0 and gtk-2.0 in my .config folder, reboot, made sure my settings.ini in gtk-3.0 and gtk-2.0 were right (copy below) etc etc

    [Settings]
    gtk-theme-name=Faience-Claire
    gtk-icon-theme-name=Faience
    gtk-font-name=Myriad Pro 10
    gtk-cursor-theme-name=Adwaita
    gtk-cursor-theme-size=0
    gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_ICONS
    gtk-toolbar-icon-size=GTK_ICON_SIZE_SMALL_TOOLBAR
    gtk-button-images=0
    gtk-menu-images=0
    gtk-enable-event-sounds=1
    gtk-enable-input-feedback-sounds=1
    gtk-xft-antialias=1
    gtk-xft-hinting=1
    gtk-xft-hintstyle=hintslight
    gtk-xft-rgba=rgb

But the result is still the same, this AwOken icons set doesn't want to leave my desktop.
I tried to delete them manually, they obviously don't appear anymore; but it's not solving the problem, i still cannot change to another set of icons.

Not a crucial problem indeed, but still, this is a hitch scratching long enough to contact you guys for help. On other archbang installation (older iso), i don't have this problem, i can change the icon set at will, everything is fine.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I think that Mr Green had already made the switch to obmenu-generator for the pipe menu used for Applications.  If so, you may need to set the icon set for the applications in the ~/.config/obmenu-generator/config.pl file.

Re: [Solved] - OBmenu Icons stuck in AwOken

My config.pl looks like this:

our $CONFIG = {
  categories_case_sensitive => 0,
  clean_command_name_re     => undef,
  desktop_files_paths       => ["/usr/share/applications"],
  editor                    => "medit",
  gtk_rc_filename           => undef,
  icon_dirs_first           => [],
  icon_dirs_last            => ["/usr/share/icons/gnome"],
  icon_dirs_second          => [],
  missing_icon              => "gtk-missing-image",
  skip_app_command_re       => undef,
  skip_app_name_re          => undef,
  skip_file_content_re      => undef,
  skip_file_name_re         => undef,
  skip_svg_icons            => 1,
  terminal                  => "lxterminal",
  use_only_my_icon_dirs     => 0,
  VERSION                   => 0.54,
  wine_desktop_files_paths  => ["/home/michael/.local/share/applications/wine"],
  wine_skip_exec_re         => undef,
  wine_skip_name_re         => qr/^(?:Uninstall|Readme|Help|Visit|Register|Technical Support)\b/i,
}

Did some change to "icon_dirs_first" and "second" without any improvement.

Re: [Solved] - OBmenu Icons stuck in AwOken

If you open a terminal and input

$ obmenu-generator -h

you'll get a readout of help for obmenu-generator. You should see something like this which is mine:

[archvortex@ArchVortex ~]$ obmenu-generator -h
usage: /usr/bin/obmenu-generator [options]

Options:
    -p  : (re)generate a pipe menu
    -s  : (re)generate a static menu
    -d  : (re)generate icons.db (with -i)
    -r  : (re)generate config file
    -i : use icons in menus
    -u : update the configuration file
    -R  : reconfigure openbox

Others:
    -h  : print this message
    -S : print the schema file to STDOUT
    -H : print help message for config files

Examples:
   ** Static menu without icons:
        /usr/bin/obmenu-generator -s

   ** Pipe menu with icons:
        /usr/bin/obmenu-generator -p -i

    ** Reconfigure openbox:
        /usr/bin/obmenu-generator -R

NOTE: After a pipe menu is generated, '-p' it's not needed anymore.

** Config file: /home/archvortex/.config/obmenu-generator/config.pl
** Schema file: /home/archvortex/.config/obmenu-generator/schema.pl

You can see that you are able to regenerate the icons.db with the -d flag. Change your icon theme in Appearance and then regenerate the menu icons using:

$ obmenu-generator -d

I like colour in my menu icons so I switched from Awoken as well.

Re: [Solved] - OBmenu Icons stuck in AwOken

I removed them as I do not like icons wink Be aware that some applications use there own defined icons such as spacefm.
