[solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

Hi, I installed testing ISO in my laptop.
It looks very good.

I saw some errors when installing (couldn't not copy some AwOgen icons) but everything else works perfect (systemd, daemons, services ...)

I haven't changed default theme, so its BlackCoal and Dasha (just changed tint2, conky and wallpaper)

But I noticed that some applications don't look good.

For example, I see this forum all black when I try to write a new post.
nm-applet shows a white menu with options in black; same with deadbeef, gnome mplayer, galculator ...

parcellite and volume icon shows a correct black 'dasha' menu
lxterminal, leafpad and SpaceFM looks good.

a screenshot showing this issue

Also, changing color theme to another results in same issue.
Even If I uncheck color scheme option.
I tried Industrial and Clearlooks... keep seeing white menus with black options

Where should I start?
thanks

Re: [solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

What you are looking at is gtk3. Try checking your gtk-3.0 folder in ~/.config, lxappearance is supposed to now work with gtk3 but I never had any luck with it. If that does not work then install a gtk3 theme you like.

Same problem but a change to QDarkStudio4 and a regeneration of the gtk-3.0 settings solved the problem of theming.

Re: [solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

Not this case...
launching mplayer on console I saw:
(gnome-mplayer:1521): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:4:19: Theming engine 'adwaita' not found

A little of research and installing "gnome-themes-standard" from extra repo, solved this issue.
Everything is looking gooooood

Thanks Mr Green and ArchVortex

Re: [solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

I had the same problem, and the cause is probably that most gtk3 themes aren't yet compatible with gtk-3.6. If you use the standard engine/theme (Adwaita) all should be well.

Lxappearance does work here with gtk3, but I had to remove the .config/gtk-3.0 folder for it to work.

Re: [solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

gtk2 & 3 blending was always going to be a problem, you have to find a theme that does both. Think a new build will need a compatible theme....

Do you mind in detail explain to me and for the benefit of others exactly what you did to fix this problem please?....Sorry, I just don't seem to follow you.

I intsalled Wardolf Theme from #! Waldorf and is looking much better....but Network icon, Evolution and other apps. are not cooperating.

@lrcaballero:
regenerating gtk-3.0 means deleting or renaming ~/.config/gtk-3.0 folder. Then logout and login (or reboot)

Re: [solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

@dragonauta Precisely!! I deleted both the gtk2 and gtk3 folders in ~/.config and used Openbox Configuration Manager to make sure the widget theme I wanted (QDarkSudio4) was activated then rebooted, regenerating a new settings .ini in the gtk-3.0 folder with QDarkStudio4 as the GTK theme. If you don't like the icon set AwOken (I prefer colour icons) you can change at the same time and the new settings .ini will have both changes.

Re: [solved] Weird theme coloring, Testing ISO

I renamed both gtk2.0 and gtk3.0 folders and rebooted. It generated setttings.ini in ~/.config/gtk3.0 folder.

[Settings]
gtk-theme-name=Clearlooks
gtk-icon-theme-name=AwOken
gtk-font-name=Droid Sans 10
gtk-cursor-theme-name=DMZ-White
gtk-cursor-theme-size=24
gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_BOTH_HORIZ
gtk-toolbar-icon-size=GTK_ICON_SIZE_LARGE_TOOLBAR
gtk-button-images=0
gtk-menu-images=1
gtk-enable-event-sounds=0
gtk-enable-input-feedback-sounds=0
gtk-xft-antialias=1
gtk-xft-hinting=1
gtk-xft-hintstyle=hintslight
gtk-xft-rgba=rgb

Now the problem is in my Evince which I use to read pdf files, I can not see arrows ( both horizontal and vertical ) on my scrollbar. I need those arrows to scroll slowly. I can see those arrows on scrollbar in Firefox and Goolge Chrome. But I can not see in Evince.
