Rosa: impressive user desktop interface: simplewelcome & timeframe

The developers have also created a new video to demonstrate the next generation of its SimpleWelcome application launcher and the TimeFrame tool for content visualisation, which is based on KDE's Nepomuk project:

This isn't a desktop I would use, -I want to be clear about that- but it is wonderful to see that next to  the "no brain, just use it" OSses like android, ios and windows  8 an amazing mature and creative interface is developed from out of the Linux world. It really looks very user friendly and effective.
For the KDE users this is available in AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php? … _Search=Go

Very interesting. Looks very nice and easy to use. But as a minimalist openbox/dwm user, i have to pass this.

If you like a slightly heavier desktop, but not as heavy as KDE then take a look at Razor-Qt

http://razor-qt.org/

Still prefer to use Openbox smile

Thanks for the suggestion, Mr. Green; didn't know about this; this may be a quick and light weight solution for when you want to install AB for people used to the Windows environment.

I'm using Xfce4 on PC-BSD because it is so easy to do & it is supported as opposed to Openbox not being supported (at this stage).

I much prefer Openbox to Xfce4. Just saying so I'm not counted as a vote for Xfce4. wink

i tried lxde with salix a few weeks ago and really liked it,
i replaced the default right click menu with the menu that i had from archbang
so it was more like openbox+lxpanel

XFCE never did it for me, maybe too much gnome-like.
LXDE is great as a quick road to an Openbox installation.

To me it seemed like it was neither one thing nor another.  Not a fully-fledged DE with full integration of features (like Gnome and KDE are supposed to do) and not a lightweight WM that got out the way.
