As a replacement, I'd say no... as an alternative, I'd say yes.
It would depend on whether you see the info in there as static or dynamic. If you want dynamic utilization stuff then you may as well just use conky and make it look nice. If you just basic information that doesn't really need to change (like I do) then you can use a terminal.
I think in that 'transparent' thread I said that I just use it to remind me of keybindings now. There's no reason on earth that needs to refresh every x seconds. And I get the added bonus of a terminal if I need it (and you can never have enough terminals open)

New install of #!Crunchbang-11 "Waldorf" (Debian-Testing) with Openbox WM.
Downloaded x64-bit version.
Not much changes on my desktop.
Recently, new install of #!Waldorf -- since Debian Wheezy (testing) is in the FREEZE stage of it's development. This is a good time to download and install; so that when Wheezy is finally released as 'stable' early next year (Feb/Mar 2013) I will already have it. Then, all I have to do is the final 'update' and add the Wheezy+Backports repro to my sources.list

Wooow, that looks sophisticated and you are using the AB icon, nice, but I like the pic of the sax the most, beautiful.
@seaelf: also nice; I like the yellow ab logo against the creased structure of the sail; could you make a rectangular logo from that?

I'm sorry this is not Archbang but Arch.
This is my challenge to modify Arch linux to Archbang, inspired by Mr. Green's ISO projects.
It is made of Arch + X + i3 + zsh + tmux + urxvt + archbey + lxappearance and etc.
I had been very 'dark guy' like Darth Vader before I've found i3status-bar has the same color as Ducati bike!
Now green, red and white come into my life ![]()

Looks good to me.
It is a pity manjaro is all green; else I wouldn't mind making green the recognition colour of AB (green forums!)
I now have Orion as widget (lxappearance) but Clearlooks as theme(obconf). I find Orion as theme too colourless.
