I'm sure it has something to do with networkmanager being upgraded but I'm not sure if reverting to an older version is the way to go or if there is some other fix.  heres the lspci -vv too.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and now I have two applets in my notification area

Re: lost wireless function after update

I would try downgrading networkmanager first to see if you can get wireless working again...if it does then add it to ignore list in pacman.conf until you find out what the problem is with new version.

Re: lost wireless function after update

Thanks i found that too.  Still no luck on the downgrade though.  If it helps in the network manager applet in my notification area, when I click on it I don't even get an option for a wireless network and my hardware switch wont turn on.  Its normally blue if my wifi is on and orange when it is off and its stuck on orange

Broadcom regularly e breaks with new kernel updates.

bcm4312 - all works now after updating b43-firmware and broadcom-wl, tested on 3.4.2-1-pf and 3.4.2-2-ARCH
thanks

Re: lost wireless function after update

We have many issues posted with regards to broadcom, one of the reasons I added broadcom-wl to packages list.

Can you run

packer -Syu --auronly

See if broadcom package needs updating, as with all non arch repo packages keep an on its aur page....

Re: lost wireless function after update

Mr Green you are awesome.  I didn't even think to update packer.  Do I have to use the --auronly switch whenever I update packer

Re: lost wireless function after update

$ packer -Syyu

Hasta manana, monsieur

No, it is simply a way of updating aur packages only.

Re: lost wireless function after update

I don't know if I said it before, but for me the broadcom-wl driver has been nothing but trouble with this wifi card. The brcmsmac driver, open source and part of the kernel, works fine when the linux-firmware package is installed.
I don't know if including linux-firmware would pose any legal problems, but if not it would rid the next AB release of one more AUR package and save you the hassle of compiling it...
And dual booting one distro using broadcom-wl and one using brcmsmac can lead to serious problems, like total freezes and other inconveniences - at least it did, and regularly does, for me.

Re: lost wireless function after update

Anything that reduces the number of AUR would be a good thing, simply added broadcom-wl as some users had problems

Linux-firware is part of core so do not see any problems shipping with it
