Joystick weirdness

Hi, I have a Thrustmaster Fox 2 joystick that I have used successfully with other distros, but some reason is giving me grief with AB. When I plug it in, it's like it's mismapped or something. The throttle slider acts like the side-to-side axis and it generally does not control the game as expected. I know the system can see the joystick, since the games I've tried to use it on are reacting to having it plugged in. I poked around a bit on the Arch forums with not much luck, so I thought I'd toss it up here first to see if there might be a distro-specific thing to look at. Thanks!

Re: Joystick weirdness

Last fall I played with a joystick for a while.  I had to look for the appropriate module to get it to work.  Have you tried different kernel modules?  There is a joystick wiki article (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Joystick) that shows some options for testing the joystick, have you seen that?  There is a gtk based joystick tester in the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=59792). Anything that applies to Arch would apply here.

Re: Joystick weirdness

Nice! Not sure why I missed the wiki article, but I'll definitely give it a go over. I know the stuff on Arch should apply to Archbang, but every so often, there's a comment about how distros sort of "short-cut" the Arch Way and that sometimes distros introduce their own quirks which a more purist approach would avoid. I took a swing at building up an Arch install from command line, but AB gives me about 90% of what I want and I don't have to spend weeks getting it up and running. I have other things I'd rather be doing. :-)  I appreciate the Arch Way, but every now and then I catch a whiff of dogma. Thanks again for the links.
