Network issues in ArchBang

Hi, first i was thinking of posting in the feedback/Hardware & Multimedia section but there's also some issues that i haven't been able to solve.

how to remove the firefox which is installed by default(menu entry too)
& install a vanilla firefox(in menu too) which auto updates(not -syu)

Also

ArchBang doesn't come with modemmanager, usb_modeswitch and tcl which is needed for usb modems.
These three packages are included in almost all distros for out out box connectivity for modems except ArchBang
hopefully include these packages
Finally i think it would be good to also include networkmanager-pptp and networkmanager-vpnc if you are going to use networkmanager, because it's annoying that you can't setup a VPN service by default and sill have the choice included.

To remove the pre-packaged firefox

pacman -R firefox-aurora

Then simply install another browser of your choice.

As for the menus I don't use OB so I don't know the answer to that. Sorry.

Re: Network issues in ArchBang

The issue is dealt with here http://wiki.archbang.org/index.php?titl … orkManager and is resolved in the unofficial update release later this week. Myself and ArchBang's co-developer sHyLoCk also use a modem so it will be included in the new official release in June.

GUI's?? We don't need no stinkin' GUI's!!!

Re: Network issues in ArchBang

The pipemenu used in the default menu updates everytime you open it.  So as soon as you remove aurora, it will be gone.  Once you install the new browser, it should add automatically.  One additional thing you will want to do is update the keybinding (super+w) that was set up.  Within the Openbox menu, go to Key Editor entry under Openbox Config.  Find the Super+W keybinding and update the command box appropriately.
