Re: ArchBang Articles till April2012

I suppose this  means that we gonna get busy on these forums.
I hardly think a more positive review could be possible.
Should we put a link to it in the wikipedia AB entry?
Maybe using his way of thinking that it is a great way to install Arch if you know what you are doing (have installed and configured it yourself before)

Re: ArchBang Articles till April2012

...btw,  we should have http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=archbang update it's review links for Archbang 2011.11, to include these latest reviews, -such as that great one by Whitson at Lifehacker, as mentioned by Vortex above.

Yep, he's a good tech-writer, and actually, it's because of Whitson that I took the plunge into Arch, and now Archbang ...

Yes, good idea, and deja-vu ?, maybe give a shout to that "Ladislav Bodnar" guy to update his distrowatch links to refect these new reviews. wink

Re: ArchBang Articles till April2012

I edited the Archbang article on Wikipedia
Added:

It is also recommended as a fast installation method of Archlinux for people who have experience installing Arch but want to avoid the more demanding default installation of Arch when reinstalling it on another pc.[6]

and adapted latest release date.

Re: ArchBang Articles till April2012

We are in the position of the "secret" hot tip and the only screenshot of Linux.
Our Arch friends won't like it.

Re: ArchBang Articles till April2012

Nice that he does all this work, but as he starts his first bootcamp AB video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGB9ViFVvfU with the remark that he has become  an expert because he had to install  arch and archbang  almost ten times to get it running, I wonder about his worth as a technical advisor.

He is going to convert it to a full arch install??? He doesn't seem to grasp that AB is just a certain configuration of Arch and is and will be Arch and nothing is converted.
Anyway he quite good in making video tutorials although the content of what he shows seems all too obvious for me and in the details sometimes quite uninformed for instance about urxvt not letting you copy and paste. How to copy and paste there: http://bbs.archbang.org/viewtopic.php?pid=5411#p5411

So watch it with a critical eye.

That's true for anything on the internet!

The Linux Action Show also did a review this week of ArchBang.  It doesn't actually start until more than half way through the show.  Link: http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/1667 … ng-review/.  To be honest, I only heard part of it as I was working on my favorite yearly activity... figuring out US taxes!

Re: ArchBang Articles till April2012

The above mentioned review on AB only starts at about  49:30 minutes and is more knowledgeable, accurate and informative. Nice is also the explanation on openbox.
On the risks on Arch updating people are warned. The quick install of AB is really appreciated.
