Systemd Isos uploaded...

This morning uploaded systemd based isos.

sha256sum *.iso
84a91b591bce05a8e9e325d76e4d34d573e3fdc4175a7df896cc77f42be1ab46 archbang-200716-i686.iso
c7f5e6025c0e0736a36e747ad17fdc72dbe352b7fd678079f7855657de8e3e44 archbang-200716-x86_64.iso

If I have time I may work on Openrc version.

As Archlinux is a rolling release isos should work without updating so often. It simply means that the older the iso the bigger the update/upgrade post install.

Changes coming are removal of installer. Archlinux is about learning linux and your system, this has always been true since Arch started. Arch wiki combined with arch-install-scripts (which are on iso) and other useful applications are all you need to install.

Forums will remain as long as hosting lasts and I have setup a blog on sourceforge with news.

Re: Systemd Isos uploaded...

Thanks. Seeing how few mourning we have seen on the forums, most of our users seem to be able to  live with these new developments. Or they are on holidays.

I you allow me : I feel your feeling is wrong. I am sad, very sad and I am sure many more are sad as well. But we don't like to show our feelings on internet. And some of us are on holidays as you state.

We hope Mr Green will find the time to provide us a couple of times a year with a nice Archbang iso. Many hundreds of users are downloading every time. Maybe we are a bit too egoistic and forget to say : thank you!

Thank you. Mr Green. Nobody is able to make Openbox based Arch isos as you do. Please do not stop.

And thank you also Pablo or Paul  and Oliver : please go on with the job you are doing so well : trying to solve Archbang problems.

Dank!

Re: Systemd Isos uploaded...

I will do my best to keep ISO alive, users do not realise the amount of time and cost involved. Hosting is covered until early next year as is domain name.

Manjaro fills most users needs they have a larger development team and are better equipped to get the job done.

Re: Systemd Isos uploaded...

[SOLVED!] OK I figured it out.  I did not re-format the / (root) partition prior to starting the installation. I installed over an old Arch installation and got the duplicates.

Re: Systemd Isos uploaded...

Mr Green,

I am arriving just as you are slowly withdrawing. I will add my thanks for providing much needed access to Arch for those who struggle with the installation process -- well described in the Arch wiki, but still lacking a bit for many. Manjaro does indeed provide easy access for many, but it is unlike Archbang in two regards. First, it maintains separate repositories. Second, and most importantly, seems unable to maintain iso's for OpenBox. It is a great gateway to Arch, but a poor substitute for Archbang!

With many thanks and best regards,
aguador

@ Mr Green
"Manjaro fills most users needs they have a larger development team and are better equipped to get the job done."

Well yes, but some simply like AB, just because it's Arch + Openbox.
I know, 'cause that's how I eventually understood Arch myself.

Also, you mentioned JWM ?, is that a replacement WM for Openbox within AB ?   if so, then that's cool too
it's all good either way. :->

That said,
I just wanna wish a Merry Christmas, and a HNY,-[Happy New Years], to you, Pablo, Oliver, and the rest of the team for your continual support and guidance for all Linux/Arch users.
and I hope AB is around for many more years to come.
smile

Allow me, scjet, to quote your words. Your English is much better than mine and I also feel the need to say thank you to all the ArchBang people, especially Mr Green.
Needless to add that I agree with every single word you wrote in this mail.

Ok, I think we all understand that by now.
So pardon my rudeness, but seriously, what's the $dollar figure you need?
Throw it out there man, we're all adults here mentally, err um, atleast I hope so,  smile
and we'll all try and do what we can.

Re: Systemd Isos uploaded...

How many people remember Willinski's 21 steps to install Arch Linux?

Somebody needs to find it and update it. That's why I used to  use Arch and Archbang back in the day.

Re: Systemd Isos uploaded...

lifehackers killer arch install is not too bad, just be aware that as arch constantly changes these guides may not be fully up to date. Arch wiki is still the best place.
