Re: missing /skel folder

"/etc/skel" has always been there, in archbang, as far as I can remember, however, what version did you install ?
"skel" will always be in "/etc/skel", and never just "/skel"

anyway, did you install the "latest"  version/release of archbang ?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/archban … _releases/

Re: missing /skel folder

I did remove /etc/skel to save space but am thinking of including it again to allow multi user systems.

Re: missing /skel folder

my point is, do not look or bother creating a "/skel" folder 'cause there isn't one.

What you should have is these files inside your "/etc/skel" folder:

.bash_profile
.bashrc
.xinitrc
.xsession

If they're not in "/etc/skel", meaning they have been accidently removed...?, then you can simply copy your existing ones in your own /home/<dir>, and/or copy them to an "/etc/skel" folder -(you'll need to be "root" to do this), and/or,  to another Users  /home/<dir>..., with very little modifications required, if any.
Is archbang physically on your system, I'm asking only in case you tried some usb-persistence live method -which may or may not work for multiple Users?

How does "/etc/skel" use up a lot of space?
'jus curious, 'cause they should be, afterall, just templates, with NO binary files at all?

Re: missing /skel folder

Reinstall the the 'bash' and the 'xorg-xinit' packages. Those two packages provide the template dotfiles in /etc/skel/ that you want.

Re: missing /skel folder

I thought the /etc/skel  emptiness was re-fixed again ?
I guess not.

Re: missing /skel folder

I forgot to add back in skel files on last release, you can find defaults here...

Naa, I'll still be around nagging, but just as a User/Spectator, as I mentioned in my be-lated email, I'm just takin' a break.
AB deserves some more dedicated, and influential Mod's, Admins, ...
Besides, it's high time I go over an "stir the pot" on the BSD side of things for awhile, and they're gonna hate me for it -lol.

Anyway, I sincerely just hope ALL you guys stay around and keep AB truckin'.
In my experience here, Archbang has been the BEST Openbox distro of them ALL,  much better than manjaro's version,  but only slightly better than Crunchbang's, imho, and I should know.

If everything else fails, Pablo & Co. will know what to do, I hope, to keep AB going.
wink
