How To Install tar.gz?

Hello ArchBangers!

I have been using the Still-Wasp Theme for a while and now I wish to install the Still-wasp Icon Theme to go with it. I tried couple of things:

1) Extracted folder from tarball in my Downloads folder...
2) $ sudo cd Downloads
3) makepkg
4) makepkg | install still-wasp.tar.gz

and for #'s 3 & 4 I get ERROR: PKGBUILD does not exist. What am I doing wrong? Can someone guide me into the right direction.

Thanks in advance....

─[lrcaballero]──[archbang]:~/Downloads$
└──>>makepkg | install still-wasp.tar.gz
install: cannot stat `tar.gz': No such file or directory
==> ERROR: PKGBUILD does not exist.

Re: How To Install tar.gz?

Open lxappaerance  via Pref, User interface settings; choose tab icon theme, click install+ and move to and select the filename.tar.gz

Re: How To Install tar.gz?

makepkg, at it's most simple,  requires at least a file named PKGBUILD and it will go out and download the source code for you, compile it, and then build a pacman-compatible file to install

Re: How To Install tar.gz?

@ Pablokal

Pablokal,

I have tried this many times, because that is how I have installed my other Icon Themes in the past, but for some reason with this theme I am having a difficulty. Go figure! When i click install it shows as if is installing it but then it does not show in the menu list on the right hand side...perhaps the tar.gz file is broken? I will keep trying.

Thank you...

Cheers!

Re: How To Install tar.gz?

Are the new icons in /usr/share/icons/ ?

If not, you can move the extracted icon folder manually there, as root, and see if you can activate the theme then in lxappaerance.
