Re: ArchBang New Release March 2014

just a question, I installed the previous release and noticed when i boot the CD-ROM it had a EFI boot loader.  But the installation menu doesnt mention anything about installing an EFI boot loader only grub-bios or Syslinux.  Will that be an option on this or future release?

thanks, I love using archbang.  Saves me time because It's pretty much what I would install if I started from arch base.

Re: ArchBang New Release March 2014

We only have limited support live for EFI/UEFI. I have not had the time to look at including it in installer, just think it would be far too complex (Syslinux support at best is experimental).

Re: ArchBang New Release March 2014

ok thanks for the reply!    To help save time you might want to take a look at the latest Manjaro release as they have EFI support built into their installer (inlcuding the CLI one).   The way it works with most distributions is that if you boot from a CD using efi then during install it prompts you for your efi partition.   They copy a directory with one file in it (x86_64boot.efi or similar) to your EFI partition (i.e, sda1) which calls grub2 from your root partition.   It doesn't appear too complex but I havent looked further into the process.   Since windows 8 and osx both use EFI it seems to be a matter of time before linux will have to migrate over.  If i learn more about it, I will forward over any information.
