Explaining Releases to reduce confusion

The isos here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/archba … rce=navbar

Are are normal releases that we do on a quarterly basis, they are the most stable at the date they were uploaded.

RC releases are more to update and filter in changes towards next release. I tend to update them monthly or when a major change in Arch occurs.

As we are a small team we try only to answer questions relating to ArchBang itself (live or installer). Most problems can be resolved by visiting Arch wiki or searching Arch forums.

I did remove locales to save space on isos, this has caused problems but nothing that cannot be resolved post install. Would like to remove the bloat that is gtk3 but it would take ArchBang down to a more command line level that some users (new & old) would not like. Iso size is not a real issue when more users will put image on a usb device, however building isos and uploading them does take quite a while. For that reason I would like to keep isos to <500mb is possible. This also means we do not ship with many applications but using pacman you can pretty much install anything you need subject to a working network connection.

On a personal note I will be reducing the amount of work I put into ArchBang, am really hoping that someone would like to step up and share some of the work.

Re: Explaining Releases to reduce confusion

I'd be more than willing to help out where I can.
Only caveat would be time- I have lots of it on my hands now but when called for work I wouldn't have much time to devote to keyboard.
And I never know when I'll be called for a job.

Only qualifications I have are using various *nixes for over 10yrs and a decent grasp of shell scripting with a smattering of other programming languages thrown in.
