Secure Boot Petition at FSF

I noticed the Free Software Foundation has a statement for people to sign up in order to petition Microsoft and computer hardware vendors to make sure UEFI secure boot is done in such a way that users can still install free operating systems of their choice.  Here is the link: http://www.fsf.org/campaigns/secure-boo … /statement if you are interested in checking it out or signing.

Re: Secure Boot Petition at FSF

I remember that now.  And after trying to sign it (again), I remembered it did not work the first time.  It says they will send me an email so I can confirm my signature.  Then I never get an email, not even in my junk folder.  Anyone else having this issue?

I resolved this issue.  This one is funny.  I had my suspects before, but I got to test it out.  When I signed before I provided my live.com account (yes, the Microsoft email).  Apparently the FSF does not like Microsoft product users.  Even ones that back their goals.  I guess I am a hypocrite for using the MS product.  I got my live account before I got into GNU/Linux.  I still have my account because it is tied to a lot of things and I like being able to open the Office documents Microsoft users send me with the free viewer/editor that is built into live/hotmail.

I have since joined the FSF and now have a FSF email address.  I was able to sign the petition this time.  The really funny part?  My FSF email forwards to my live account.

Re: Secure Boot Petition at FSF

Funny story, there is a streak of dogmatism in every ideology, sorry to say.
