[Solved]Libpango issue

During my most recent update I noticed some errors while the update was in progress. Now   I cannot login using Slim. Each attempt just bounces me back to the Slim login screen.

Logging in via CLI  startx gives the following

 /usr/bin/openbox :symbol lookup error:/usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so:undefined symbol: g_mutex_trylock

Checking back thru pacman.log I can see a slew of errors like this

g_module_open() failed for /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-wbmp.so:  /usr/lib/libgdk_p$dgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol:g_bytes_unref

Re: [Solved]Libpango issue

Sometimes it is difficult to know which bit of an error needs to be Googled.

I have had a look at your link and found that i have three cairo related packages that need re-compiling. However issuing a " packer -S cairomm pixman python2-cairo " command leads to the following

error:failed retrieving file..........from archlinux.mirror.kangaroo.net:could not resolve host; unknown error

I have omitted some of the output but I think you will get the gist. It does that for all the mirrors in my mirrorlist.

Did some further googling, worked out that dhcp wasn't working so enabled that. Re-compiled all the relevant cairo packages and rebooted. Same problem. Decided to re-run the whole update process and bingo!! all working now !!!
